The Pay it Forward program at Kinder
At Kinder, we believe every family deserves access to clean, affordable diapering options. That’s why our Pay It Forward program helps recirculate gently used cloth diapers to families in need while also giving our customers a simple way to support diaper need in their communities and nationwide.
When you donate pre-loved diapers to a qualifying 501(c)(3) charitable organization, you can send us your shipping receipt and receive Kinder store credit for the shipping expense you incurred. In other words, the program makes it easier to pass on diapers you no longer need, and it helps reduce the cost of donating them to a nonprofit that can sanitize and redistribute them
How It Works:
The process is simple.
- Donate new or gently used cloth diapers to a 501(c)(3) organization that accepts them.
- Keep your shipping receipt if you mail the donation.
- Email help@kinderdiapers.com with the subject line “Pay it Forward Receipt” to request store credit for eligible shipping costs.
- The program covers shipping expenses only, not the cost of purchasing new items to donate.
This program is designed to encourage more families to donate diapers they’re no longer using, while supporting organizations working to end diaper need.
What happens to used cloth diaper donations received by The Cloth Option?
Once The Cloth Option receives gently used cloth diaper donations, they sort, inspect, and prepare the diapers for redistribution to families in need. In some cases, they can also make minor repairs, such as fixing simple elastic issues or mending snaps, so more diapers stay usable and can continue serving families for longer. This kind of care helps extend the life of donated diapers, reduce waste, and make cloth diapering more accessible for caregivers who may need a little extra support.
Where Families Can Get Help
If you have gently used cloth diapers you no longer need, consider passing them along to a nonprofit that can put them back into use. If you or someone you know needs free cloth diapers, there are several excellent resources to explore.
The Cloth Option
The Cloth Option works to advocate for and provide access to cloth diapers and other reusable hygiene products for families experiencing diaper need. It’s also the organization we donate all of our gently used customer returns to, helping provide cloth diapers to families who need them most.
The Cloth Option was founded in October 2018, so it has been supporting families for several years now. Since then, it has distributed over 120,000 cloth diapers to hundreds of families across the United States, helping replace at least 24 million disposable diapers.
National Diaper Bank Network
The National Diaper Bank Network connects and supports more than 240 community-based diaper banks across the U.S. that collect and distribute free diapers to families in need.
If you’re looking for cloth diaper help, a good first step is to contact your local diaper bank and ask whether they have cloth diaper kits available. Many diaper banks can connect families with resources or partner organizations that offer reusable diaper support, but it’s important to know that most diaper banks only accept brand-new cloth diapers for donation. If you’re planning to donate, be sure to check their guidelines first so your contribution can be used in the way they require.
Salem Cloth Project
Salem Cloth Project is a 501(c)(3) cloth diaper bank serving families in Marion and Polk County, Oregon. Eligible caregivers can receive a free cloth diaper kit for every child in diapers in their care. Right now, their services are very regional, so they serve families in Oregon only rather than offering nationwide support.
